Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of multiple development projects worth around ₹66 crore in Sanand Assembly constituency, Gujarat. The event was held on Wednesday through video conferencing from New Delhi.
While addressing the programme, Amit Shah said that the development of Sanand has been carried out with a clear vision and roadmap under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He assured that by the year 2029, no village in the constituency would remain without basic amenities such as drinking water, roads, healthcare facilities, sanitation, and greenery.
Focus on Roads, Water, and Healthcare
The Home Minister highlighted that the new projects in Sanand focus on improving roads, healthcare services, drinking water supply, sanitation, and afforestation. Shah added that the government is actively working to solve the irrigation and drinking water problems of 111 villages in the region.
He said that the first phase of works, costing around ₹750 crore, is now nearing completion, and an additional ₹1,000 crore is being invested to ensure water supply to every household and farmland. These efforts, according to Shah, will not only meet the daily needs of residents but also boost agricultural productivity.
Industrial Growth and Future of Sanand
Shah underlined that Sanand’s industrial growth will further transform the region into a modern hub of development. He pointed out that once the Dholera Special Investment Region (SIR) becomes operational, Sanand will emerge as the most industrially developed tehsil of Gujarat.
The Union Minister also announced that chip manufacturing by Micron Technology will soon begin in Sanand. This follows the recent launch of India’s first indigenous 32-bit processor chip ‘Vikram-32’ at SEMICON India 2025. According to Shah, these developments will place Sanand at the center of India’s technology-driven industrial growth, generating new job opportunities and encouraging innovation.
Call for Public Participation in Green Initiatives
Apart from infrastructure, Amit Shah emphasized the importance of environmental protection. He urged citizens to actively participate in the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” campaign, which encourages people to plant trees in the name of their mothers. He appealed to the residents of villages, schools, and municipal areas to engage in large-scale plantation drives.
Shah proudly highlighted that the Gandhinagar Lok Sabha constituency has already created a record by carrying out the highest number of tree plantations in Gujarat under the Green Gandhinagar Project. He encouraged Sanand to follow the same path for a greener and healthier future.
A Symbol of National Unity
During his speech, Amit Shah also referred to the recent election of C.P. Radhakrishnan as the Vice President of India. He described this as a reflection of India’s geographical and cultural unity, as today all four constitutional offices represent the east, west, north, and south regions of the country. Shah underlined that this inclusiveness strengthens India’s democratic values and reflects the spirit of unity in diversity.
